BitTorrent - what's that your honour?

Interesting study written by John Leyden over at The Register in which he reports that a botnet attack on PC Internet users could result in their machines being compromised by a BitTorrent upload.

This raises the interesting possibility of a PC Internet user being infected - if that's the right word - with a functional BitTorrent client, which downloads and uploads various files on their machine without them being aware of what is happening.

Given the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) ferocious legal campaign in the US against file sharers, I wonder what would happen if the PC user argued in court that they had no knowledge of a BitTorrent client operating on their machine?

You've got to admit, it's a good defence...
