Warnings have been issued after a string of new internet scams appeared in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Attempted frauds, ranging from fake job offers through to promises of a share in the fortune of a Russian oil tycoon have been doing the rounds and the British Embassies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are also warning Britons living in the UAE about a scam involving people being offered jobs in the UK.
According to the e-mail, the applicant has to pay his travel fee to an agency and then attend a job interview at the British Embassy.
In a statement, the embassies warned: "Please do not respond to this e-mail, it is a scam. The British Embassy does not host job interviews and in any situation where an applicant is asked to pay in advance caution is advised."
Anyone who receives similar e-mails and is not sure how to respond can call one of the embassies for clarification.
