Voice or Data : dotTel will allow you to choose

The building blocks of an all-IP network are slowly coming together. Soon you might be able to type in a URL like http://www.itproportal.com on your mobile phone and be greeted by a voice at the other end.

The dotTel structure will be administered by London-based Telnic. The project was on hold for six years however recently technologies have matured enough to make the HTTP-to-voice bridge a reality.

Ebay and Google are already lining up to tap this potential advertising goldmine. People tend to remember brand names better than phone numbers and the .tel address would allow the service providers to actually decide whether the visitor should be directed to the actual website or to a voice-operator.
