Tesco commits to chip-and-pin

We don't go shopping at Tesco on principle, but I gather that the supermarket chain doesn't use chip-and-pin, but is finally planning to implement it in its stores by the end of the summer.

What's intriguing is that Tesco says it has waited this long to implement chip-and-pin as it wanted to be sure its system could fully integrate the facility.

In the meantime, the supermarket chain says it has implemented a number of systems to detect whether a card being used in its stores is reported stolen or cloned.

`Or cloned...'

I wonder how Tesco could detect a card that has been cloned. The company didn't return my calls on the issue, but I suspect the press comment may be all mouth and no trousers, as they say.

On the other hand...
