Following widespread angst and anger Microsoft have dropped their free of charge folder encryption trinket.
After an availability of about 2 weeks Microsoft have pulled their folder encryption tool which was given away to users daft enough to sign up for Windows Genuine Advantage Validation. Systems administrators were furious that users would be able to tuck files away from administrator’s prying eyes. At best it would mean data not being backed up, at worst it could mean all sorts of nasties.
Maybe another victory for common sense.
