Even offline computers can be hacked - sort of

I was amused to hear that `researchers' at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas this week demonstrated that a computer could be hacked, even if it is offline.

Well, sort of. What the research demo-ed was a PC with WiFi or digital modem capabilities in offline mode, having those facilities turned on using a piece of malware.

What was really interesting though, was the fact that demo machine was an Apple MacBook, rather than a Windows-driven PC...
