Whilst games for the PSP are reported to be flying off shelves faster than beer at Christmas, sales of the UMD mini-DVDs have been sluggish, to say the least.
Faultline suggests that the 20 quid price point has a lot to do with it, and I have to agree.
Twice in the last few weeks I've encountered people travelling with PSPs watching movies - both using 2 gig memory cards and watching movies downloaded from the Net.
Chatting with both people revealed they were heartily sick of Sony's price gouging on its UMD mini-DVD disks.
Faultline suggests that a legal movie download service for PSP users should be running in the UK before too long.
If it has a digital rights management at its heart, then unless the price is seriously sensible, the service will almost certainly be too little, too late.
The genie with the PSP, is well and truly out of the bottle...
