DVD

A new type of media similar to a CDROM, a Digital Versatile Disk is an optical technology that follows a different format for recording the data on the disk thereby allowing for a maximum storage capacity of 17 GB on both sides of the disk.

With around 4.7 GB data capacity on one side, it can hold a full featured 133 minute movie in one disk, complete with subtitles in multiple languages.

The Digital Versatile Disk is soon expected to replace the CDROM due to its high storage capacity. The DVD Video disks are fast replacing Video CD’s as the preferred choice and furthermore a home DVD-ROM player can play an audio CD or a video CD.

A DVD Video disk also allows for viewing the movie in High Definition TV that makes it possible to view the movie with exceptional video and audio clarity.
