Wave bye-bye to email with Microsoft OneCare

Microsoft has admitted that a bug in its Windows Live OneCare security package has been causing email to disappear from punters' Outlook and Outlook Express mailboxes.

A patch for the problem, which surfaced early last month, has been promised within the next few days.

The problem appears to stem from the deletion of PST (Outlook) and DBX (Outlook Express) files following a malware scan using OneCare.

Microsoft says that punters can recover their files by using the quarantine/restore option within OneCare, although some users report that their files have disappeared from even this option.

Good old Microsoft...
