Panda has released NanoScan, an online virus scanning service that is claimed to perform a full sweep of a computer in less than 60 seconds.
That's pretty impressive, given that most current AV software takes an hour or more to do the business.
Panda isn't saying how its scanning service works but it seems that the online system relies on a 400K ActiveX download applet, which then runs interactively on the required PC.
This appears to allow the signature file to be hosted on Panda's computers in virtual memory, which is what seems to speed things up and allow a sweep for more than 700,000 types of malware so quickly.
