Interesting to see US presidential hopeful Senator John McCain's MySpace micro-site being hacked this week.
According to Mike Arrington on TechCrunch, the hacker is a well-known industry figure who developed a MySpace micro-site template, which McCain's office staff then used.
The template was apparently developed by Mike Davidson, the founder of Newsvine, who gave away the code to anyone who wanted it, but asked that users gave him credit and hosted the images on their own servers.
McCain's staff did neither, meaning that Davidson had to pay for the image download bandwidth.
According to TechCrunch, Davidson tinkered with one of the images on his site that they were accessing, and replaced the "contact information" box with this statement:
`Today I announce that I have reversed my position and come out in full support of gay marriage... particularly marriage between two passionate females.'
McCain and his staffers didn't see the funny side of the issue and have scrubbed the image. Newsvine, however, happens to have a copy of the micro-site.
Fab story huh? Have a great weekend everyone...
