RIP

Routing Information protocol is a widely used routing protocol used in many corporate networks and other small networks.

Using RIP, a gateway or host computer with a router sends the information about all the hosts in the network to its closest neighbor and the neighbor sends the information to its closest neighbor and this information to all the points in the network until all the hosts within a network have the same knowledge of the routing points and this state is known as Network Convergence.

Each host with a router uses this routing table information to send the information to determine the next host to a packet on it’s way a destination.

Routing is considered on small networks but is considered to increase traffic on a large network.
