Symantec will expand its range of mobile phone security applications next week with a consumer and a large company version of its Mobile Security software.
The consumer edition will be known as Norton Mobile Security for Smartphones, whilst the enterprise edition will be called Symantec Mobile Security 5.0.
Both versions will be launched on May 29th and be designed for Microsoft Windows Mobile-driven smartphones.
The aim of the new packages is to build on Symantec's Mobile Security software for the Symbian platform, although the new software will include a number of features, including anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall and data encryption capabilities.
According to peeps at the Wireless Event show in London this week (where I got the inside track on what's due on the 29th) the word is that Symantec will also be offering a VPN add-on to the software to allow mobile users to securely connect with their office systems.
The enterprise software will also feature advanced administration and auditing features, with an admin lock-down facility in the event a mobile goes missing or stolen...
