Spam from the HK perspective

There's an interesting item in the problem of spam over on Suresh R's blog in Hong Kong which reveals more than a little about how legal loopholes in anti- spam legislation can be exploited by the less well meaning members of society.

The most intriguing aspect of the blog is that, despite several specific pieces of anti-spam legislation, kicking off with the Hong Kong OFTA's legislation in 2004, it's only now that really effective legislation is about to pass into law in the former Crown Colony.

Even so, Suresh claims that marketing peeps are still being given a blanket licence to send unsolicited bulk email or, as he puts it:

"And I can keep emailing my marketing pitches to you till you beg me to stop..."
