Geek Squad agent admits hacking porn star

A former staffer with the Geek Squad (technical help) division of the Best Buy store chain in the US has admitted that his team of technical support agents hacked into Jasmine Grey's [link safe for work -Ed] computers to get free access to all the porn she had made.

According to reports on the US newswires, the Geek Squad was called in after Grey's PC and webcam locked up, so they decided to upgrade her copy of Windows XP to Service Pack 2, as well as tweaking the system.

Whilst doing this, the agent discovered around 12 gigabytes (12 gigabytes? -Ed) of Grey's videos on the machine, so they did a back-up of the files. Several times, in fact.

According to the Best Buy staffer, though, Grey's Webcam still kept on locking up, so she asked for a home visit.

Which was carried out quite rapidly, you'll be amazed to hear, and the visiting agent is said to have searched her network of PCs for even more of her porn files. Which were also backed up. Several times.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the files are now doing the rounds on Bittorrent and other file sharing networks.

The story has a sad ending though, as Grey is said to have died some time later in a car crash, making the Geek Squad staffer concerned feeling a bit guilty about his actions.

I should think so too. Not only was this a crass invasion of privacy, it was illegal too. And bittorrenting a dead person's computer files - even if they are a porn star - is well out of order too.
