Apple's iPhone unlocked in software...

Hard on the heels of the relatively complex iPhone network unlocking procedure that several peeps revealed earlier this month, it seems that an enterprising group of crackers have developed a software-only crack for the shiny new Apple mobile.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the code hack will be sold on the www.iPhoneSIMfree.com Web portal from later this week onwards.

If true, this could be interesting, as the iPhone seems to sell for around 300 UK beer tokens on eBay at the moment, and there are indications this will be the price from O2, Vodafone and T-Mobile, when they start selling the mobile in the next couple of months.

However, the UK price from these carriers includes a 12 or 18 month contract, and I'll bet the monthly tab will be around the 40 notes mark.

This suggests to me that, if the iphoneSIMfree.com software works, then it will be cheaper to grab an iPhone off eBay and slip in one of the rebated SIM deals you can get on t'Internet.

Unless, of course, you like paying through the nose for your shiny new mobile phone...
