Warning - hack your iPhone and it might explode

A new report from the HackintOsh forum over the weekend suggests that hacking your iPhone using one of the more invasive methods isn't as safe as you might think.

One forum member in Africa (of all places -Ed) says that he used George Hotz' method of hacking his iPhone, opening it up and doing things with a screwdriver.

Unfortunately for Pipas (the member), he accidentally punctured the iPhone's lithium-ion battery, which exploded a couple of minutes later.

According to Pipas, the black goo - presumably the result of the battery exploding - burned the tips of his fingers.
