UK Tech Skills crisis might not be so grave after all

A panel of public and private sector stakeholders, convened by Silicon.com agreed that, despite a fall in the number of candidates for a Computer science degree, things might not be as bad as reported.

According to them, the tech industry is one of the most volatile and skills shortages are something that has been affecting the industry since its early years.

However, the fact that more firms are outsourcing their tech department combined with more relaxed immigration rules with regards to skilled IT workers seems to have counter-balanced any shortfall in talent.

The panel's point of view is in sharp contrasts with previous stories about a reduction in IT jobs created in UK (due to offshore outsourcing) or potential skills shortages.
