Bill Gates, plans to "coopete" with the likes of Cisco, Nortel and the likes with a range of software that will create what Microsoft calls "Unified Communications".
In a widely expected announcement on Tuesday, the founder of Microsoft will push a trio communications-friendly software solutions (Microsoft Communications Server 2007; Microsoft Office Communicator 2007; and Microsoft Office Live Meeting).
According to sources, the plan is to get companies to bring all services and protocols onto one single platform.

But there's more than meets the eye: back in July 2006, Microsoft formed a strategic alliance to accelerate the "transformation of Business Communication" with Nortel; so are competitors turning into collaborators or vice-versa?
