Microsoft shows new Mobile User Interface

According to theUnwired, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent to Microsoft (Extensible, Filtered Lists for Mobile Device User Interface, application number 11/765,684) which looks like a brand new "mashed-up" User interface.

Microsoft originally filed for the patent in September 2005 under the title, Enhanced Portable Device Navigation Tools. As always, a picture is better suited to describe patents.

In a nutshell though, the user interface appears to put particular emphasis on customisation and personalisation.

For example, most popular contacts or most recent documents are available within a couple of clicks according to the description on theUnwired.

It remains to see whether Microsoft will use this brand new interface structure in any soon-to-be released mobile products.
