Apple releases new iPhone update

Pocket-lint writes that a new software update for Apple's iConic phone will come soon.

The firmware, announced by Cnet France on Tuesday the 4th will allow the iPhone to be used as a voice recorder and as an external storage device.

Version 1.1.3 will allow users to transfer files and documents more easily and the phone content will be available over a network when be connected. It is also said to contain a few security patches.

There's also some hope that it will allow iPhone users to send SMS to groups, something that is sorely missing right now.

The firmware is likely to start yet another confrontation of Apple with hackers who had release the Jailbreak firmware which allowed users to install third party software on the iPhone, much to the ire of the Cupertino-based firm.
