I was amazed to read in the Berwick Advertiser newspaper that two men were arrested on Sunday February 17th whilst sitting in a car outside someone's house.
According to the local Plod, it seems the pair were acting suspiciously with a laptop, which they were using to access the Net across an `open' WiFi signal.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the WiFi network belonged to the occupant of the house they were sat outside, and that it was broadcasting its own SSID.
So what's wrong with that? Plenty, if, as has not been reported, the pair were attempting to gain access to the householder's PC, rather than the public t'Internet.
Although nothing is certain in the case, my best guess is that we could be looking at a hacking intrusion case in the courts, rather than a theft of WiFi service charge...
