Most organisations now plan for contingencies but sometimes overlook the basics that really make the difference between a plan that looks good on paper and a functional process that will work when it is needed most.
If you haven’t done so already, go and find yourself a senior management sponsor, preferably someone on the Board. And make sure everyone knows a) who this is and b) how much importance they place on business continuity management.
Executive commitment is an absolute must. Without it you’ll be swimming against the tide. However, you’ll be surprised how much interest people will take in your project if the Chief Executive or Managing Director shows an interest too.
