Skype introduces Unlimited Call Packages, starting at £2.24 per month

Skype has announced that it will be launching several unlimited calls packages with a special "buy three months for the price of two offer" till the end of May 2008.

Skype has detailed three different packages which start at £2.24 for the Unlimited UK landline calls, £3.39 for European calls and £7.99 for Worldwide calls to 34 countries including the US (including mobiles) and Australia.

As usual, us Brits, are slammed with a higher charge; the World Call package is sold for $9.95 per month in the US.

All packages include an online number that allows your contacts to call you on Skype directly.

Although the packages are marketed as unlimited, they come with a fair usage policy which limits you to 10,000 calls per month - that's one whole week of continuous chit chat - and to landline numbers starting with 01 and 02 in the UK.

The new bundle replaces Skype's existing Skype Pro and pits the Ebay-owned company against VoIP companies like Vonage.

It is unknown whether the new package will be compatible with the new 3Skypephone.
