Brazilian hackers show what they're made of

I was amused to read a report on the newswires about a small group of hackers replacing the electronics of an ATM in the city of Caxias do Sul in Southern Brazil with an Asus Eee low-cost laptop.

The laptop was programmed to feed ATM-style images to the machine's screen and store the card data - as well as the PINs entered by hapless punters.

And to make sure that they harvested as many PIN and card details as possible, the hackers are said to have damaged the other ATMs in the vicinity, forcing people to use their rigged machine.

The hackers were only caught after their images were stored on CCTV and one of them tried to report a road traffic accident at a local cop shop. He was then recognised. Check out the video here...
