Crims now trying to copyright their malware...

I was interested to read over on the Associated Press newswire that hackers in the US are trying to copyright their malware with threats or retribution if anyone nicks their ideas or code.

It seems that some professional (if that's the right term) virus authors on t'Internet are adding a licensing agreement to their malware that threatens all sorts of nasties if punters break the licence.

After I got up off the floor after laughing quite a bit, I started to wonder about the licence.

Is it legally enforceable? Strangely I suspect it is, though I also suspect the courts would probably throw a case involving licence infringement out straight away.

The irony of the situation is that the program code has reportedly been ripped off within a few days of it being sold on the Net, so there's no honesty, it seems, amongst virus writers...
