College is useless says 16-year-old Indian hacker

I was a tad amused to read on the Indian newswires that a 16-year-old teenager arrested for online fraud has said that college was useless when it comes to meeting his needs for an extravagant lifestyle.

The lifestyle the teenager is after includes a fine haircut and brand-name clothes and he found he could achieve this by defrauding people on Paypal and eBay.

What's worrying is that the teen fraudster seems to have picked up a lot of information on his fraud modus operandi by accessing international hacking forums on t'Internet.

"His knowledge of the codes and payment gateways is as good as that of a professional hacker," said a senior police official.

Brand-name clothes? Hasn't the kid heard of Primark?...
