California sheriff forced to close his Web site

I was mildly amused last night to read that an apparently over-zealous sheriff in San Bernadino County, California, was forced to shut down his Web site after a hacker altered his online news to warn drivers that the sheriff's office wanted to stick its nose into your private business, check driver's papers and make sure "you are toeing the line."

The sheriff's office reckons that the hacker may be cheesed off that law enforcement officers may still talk on their cell phones while driving after a ban on using mobiles whilst driving kicks in next month.

The Web site, as you might imagine, is still down.

The FBI hasn't been called in apparently...
