Security = Collaboration

One recurring theme from this year’s set of talks was that no matter whether speakers agreed or disagreed with each other about the problems or solutions, each of them called for greater collaboration on how the industry is going to tackle the problem of cyber crime.

For example Cisco asked for delegates to participate in

•    TOPOFF

•    CyberStorm

And Microsoft called for people to help them develop their own security by contributing to their end to end trust forum.

It was quite ironic that these speakers made their calls for greater collaboration at FIRST 2008 as FIRST has always been dedicated to collaboration of companies and indeed the various national CERT (Computer Emergency Response Teams) from around the world often meet at FIRST to exchange information and help strengthen their own defences.
