Iranian hackers do nothing for the status of their country

I was astonished to read that Iranian hackers have staged an attack on an Israeli Web site for posting a message from Malcolm Hoenlein, the popular Jewish leader.

Astonished because the hackers are doing themselves no favours here in the West where their country's reputation seems to be going down the plughole faster than water running from a tap.

The US administration has done a nice hatchet job on Iran over the last few years and, in my humble opinion, seems to be preparing the way for creating another (lunatic) Iraq-style situation.

It's therefore more than a bit silly for Iranian hackers to play straight in to the Bush administration's hands by attacking the site in question.

Mind you, Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, is doing what you might call a diplomatic thing, after he posted a message addressed to the Persian government.

According to various newswires, in his message, Hoenlein said that the Iranian Government does not have the best interests of the people at heart.

Hmm - diplomacy in action eh? -Ed...
