Skype has a back door?

Interesting yarn - as my first editor used to say - over on the FierceVOIP Web portal about some high-ranking peeps at the Ministry of the Interior in Austria claiming they can easily eavesdrop on Skype conversations.

The implication, of course, is that there's a back door into the Skype protocol - something that has been bouncing around the rumour mill for several months now.

The story apparently emanates from the Heise Online security wire, which claims to have spoken to a few people at a security meeting in late June at which the Austrian telecom regulator was in attendance.

All very cloak and dagger material, but the bottom line - in my humble opinion - is that Skype ain't as secure as you might think.
