Samsung Brings Internet To Your TV Through Yahoo

Samsung is all set introduce internet onto your television screens with its new service called InforLive which essentially will be a Widget Channel for televisions.

It is expected to announce its plans in the upcoming Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) fair in Germany.

The service is designed to allow television viewers to experience small internet applications and is going to be powered by Yahoo Widget Engine.

The partnership with Yahoo would allow viewers to avail information related to finance, current affairs, weather etc through the means of a remote control.

It is also likely that the service will allow users to engage in instant messaging and even access eBay auctions.

In a statement which was aimed to drive home the idea behind this initiative, Dr Park who heads the digital media division at Samsung said "We want televisions to be centre of the home network."

It appears that Samsung is likely to deliver the service via an Ethernet port or would probably utilize a wireless LAN to connect to the internet service.
