Philips' Essence LCD TV Packs 42-inch Goodness in 38mm

It might not be as thin as Sony's newly launched Bravia ZX series but Philips Essence range is not that far behind with a slim 38mm thick frame and a 21mm bezel.

The 16.5Kg, 42-inch 42PES001 comes with an external hub which accommodates all the image processor and any external connectors - three HDMI in this case - and can therefore be hidden away from the beautiful Essence.

The hub connects to the LCD through a single cable and the Essence's bottom edge contains two 15w speakers which can be removed.

The screen also boosts Philips patented Perfect Pixel HD engine which is cable of handling 30 billion pixels per minute with a 100Hz refresh rate.

Other features include a 66000:1 contrast ratio, Ethernet and USB ports as well as wall mounting accessories which allows the screen to be affixed easily to any walls.

No pricing and release dates have been announced yet when the monitor was displayed at IFA 2008 although a price of 2500 Euros has been mentioned.
