Remote Access - working from outside the office?
29 August, 2008
Using a variety of common solutions provided with standard windows servers; such as Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Outlook Web Access (OWA), and Terminal Services (TS), to name but a few, you as a business can now give employees the ability to quickly and easily gain access to their work Email, Shared Data, and any other office based IT resources they might need in order to successfully work from a remote location, with a minimum of hassle.
What about the security risk I hear you exclaim! Rest assured, all of these technologies are simply locked down using the standard security implementations that will already be in place on your network, all it needs is some extra configuration and no-one will be able to use this remote access unless strictly authorised and authenticated on the internal system.
All in all remote access is not as complex as it seems, and can easily provide a wide range of business benefits.
