Council Use Mindmaps To Improve Local Education

A Council main aim must be to deliver high quality services by working in partnership with others to improve the quality of life of those who live and work in their community.

Especially for the Councils’ education departments which need effective management of its schools and educational services.

One of the biggest challenges for these departments is effectively linking the large quantity and diverse range of management information that its staff require to work with on a day-to-day basis in relation to its quality assurance and quality improvement function.

As a first step, one Council, South Ayrshire, established a mind mapping-based school improvement portal for each of its schools and services and a mind mapping-based service improvement portal for the authority's Education Department as a whole.

The standardised portals that the Department created are web-accessed, secure and based on the key strands of its quality improvement framework.

These portals allow senior managers within the authority and within its schools and services to share and have an immediate and single route to the key management information necessary for quality assurance and quality improvement.
