F-Secure calls for creation of Internet-pol

Interesting to see that Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer with F-Secure - and a veteran of the IT security industry - is calling for the creation of an Internet equivalent of Interpol to tackle the growing problem of organised crime on t'Internet.

In his quarterly wrap-up of cybercrime on the Web, Mikko says that, even though the Internet has no borders and online crime is almost always international, local police authorities often have limited resources for investigations.

"We should consider the creation of an online version of Interpol - Internetpol - that is specifically tasked with targeting and investigating the top of the crimeware food chain," he said.
