Cheap Acer Timeline Laptop To Rival Dell Adamo, MacBook Air

Acer has announced another great looking notebook, the Timeline, which feels and looks great, rivalling the likes of Dell's Adamo or the MacBook Air but with a 50 percent discount.

The Timeline is expected to have a starting price tag of around £500, going up to £650. It is less than 25mm thick, weighs from 1.6Kg and packs an Intel Ultra low voltage Core 2 Duo processor (either as dual core SU9400 or a single core SU3500, both clocked at 1.4GHz) with a choice of 13.3, 14 and 15.6-inch LED backlit widescreen, all capable of displaying up to 1366x768 pixels.

All Timeline models - which Acer describes as having "reached a delicate equilibrium between computer lightness and battery life" - will come with up to 4GB DDR3 memory and sport either 500GB (with traditional HDD) or 64GB (with SSD).

The Taiwanese manufacturer whose Aspire One range pipped Asus to the post of number one Netbook maker last year, said that users will be able to use the netbook for 10 hours with a solid state drive and 8 hours with a hard disk storage.

Timeline will also come with a HDMI and D-Sub connector, multitouch trackpad, SPDIF, Webcam three USBs ports, a card reader and 802.11n wireless connectivity. The slimline laptop will come with Windows Vista Home Premium OS.
