Vodafone To Launch Nokia N97 Smartphone In July

More Nokia N-Series smartphones are queuing up as Vodafone has announced that the N97 smartphone will be reaching its stores in July 2009 by listing it on its "coming soon" page.

The S60-enabled N97 was first introduced at the end of last year and is a 3.5-inch touchscreen capable mobile phone with a 5-megapixel camera complete with Carl Zeiss lens, flash, autofocus and up to 48GB worth of memory (16GB microSD card + 32GB).

The phone also hides a slide out QWERTY keyboard and integrates Assisted GPS features plus WiFi and the compulsory HSDPA connectivity. The N97 is likely to be the first of a number of mobile phones to be launched by the Finnish manufacturer in the next few months.

A few revamped Nokia Xpressmusic phones are expected to appear as well although for the time being, the limelight is on the 5800 Xpressmusic which, according to Nokia, has been the most popular music player in Q1 2009, beating Apple's iPod Nano.

As for Vodafone, their immediate attention will be focused on the HTC Magic which is set to be launched early next month. The second Android phone shares some features with the new Nokia N97 although they will be targeting different audiences.
