Toshiba'a New NB200 Netbook Looks Very Posh
For those looking for a Netbook with a difference, Toshiba's NB200 could well be the answer to your prayers; the successor to the NB100 not only looks great but offers a few features that sets it apart from the competition.
Firstly, it offers a nine-cell battery option that would allow you to get up to nine hours worth of juice before looking for a power outlet. There's also a great 10.1-inch widescreen backlit LED screen which allows for an almost full size screen with a bigger than average touchpad.
The nifty little netbook, known as the UX in Japan, otherwise has the same array of components within its entrails; an Atom N270 or N280 processor de chez Intel, 1GB RAM and a 160GB hard disk drive with a built-in accelerometer which will park the drive's head(s) should it fall, theoretically preventing data loss.
Other features include optional 3G broadband, 3 USB ports, Bluetooth, VGA webcam and the older Intel 945GSE chipset. The NB200 also has a very practical sleep-and-charge function which allows the user to charge other devices like a mobile phone even if the netbook is turned off.
The NB200 will have a starting weight of 1.1Kg although this will change with other battery options. Expect Toshiba's latest netbook to be available for sale in May ni three classy colours - brown, black and pink and white - for as little as £320.
