Apple Reaches One Billionth Downloaded App Milestone
Apple’s phenomenal iTunes App Store has reached yet another milestone after the magical figure of 1 billion app downloads was achieved from this platform.
Apple iTunes App Store has been a great success story since it made its appearance around nine months back, with over a billion applications have been downloaded from the platform since its inception.
The company achieved this landmark at 10pm GMT just a day after it reported the best quarter in the company’s history. In addition, the company also notified that the iPhone and iPod Touch users were collectively downloading an average 3.5 million apps in a day.
In a bid to mark this big occasion, the company had been keeping a running counter, and the user who downloaded the 1 billionth app will be receiving a $10,000 iTunes gift card.
On this occasion, Apple also showed the most popular apps on its iTunes website, with its top 20 paid apps included as many as 15 games, such as Crash Bandicoot Nitro, Tetris, Bejeweled 2, and iShoot, whereas Facebook Mobile emerged as a clear winner in free applications, followed by Google Earth, The Weather Channel, and Shazam.
The company showed its gratitude to users elegantly by simply saying “Thanks a billion”.
