Did Steve Jobs Personally Change The iPhone 3G S to 3GS?

Apple will be renaming its iPhone 3G S to 3GS and made sure that earlier references to the former moniker on its website were removed quietly; no formal announcements were made.

The company did not even care to issue a press release and did not inform its partners of the sudden change in name convention which might have miffed many of them since they can't change any designs already implemented.

The decision to change the name probably stems from the potential problems that will arise; from search engine optimisation to writing press releases, it does make sense to remove that extra character between the G and the S to avoid further confusion.

Unfortunately for Apple, they won't be able to go in the past using a time machine to actually modify the photos already published online. Some say that Steve Jobs himself chose to change the name given the fact that the alteration is coming just hours/days after the iconic Apple boss came back after a long rest.

Google doesn't necessarily consider spaces between characters as significant which means that it still counts 3GS and 3G S as the same. However, some other search features especially within third party web services won't accept single character search terms.
