Nokia UK Boss Lambasts iPhone 3GS

In a rather straight forward manner, Mark Loughran, the GM of Nokia UK, claims that the new iPhone "is a disappointment to many" and is inferior to the N97, Nokia's latest flagship.

Speaking to the guys at Mobile Today, he said that a better camera, lower tariffs and a "radical change" in styling compared to the company's previous top range mobile phone, the N96, made the N97 an altogether superior beast.

The new iPhone he says, is more an evolution rather than a revolution. It has the same colour and design and the camera was upgraded from a 2-megapixel to a 3.2-megapixel version.

In comparison he says, the N97 which has a 5-megapixel camera, is a mini computer that should do better than Apple's star product.

Nokia has also a price advantage as you can get the N97 Black for as little as £34.27 per month from Orange for two years although that excludes internet access. The iPhone 3GS starts from £44.05 per month over 24 months, all inclusive.

Both the iPhone and the Nokia N97 have performed well according to various reports. However, we doubt that more than one million N97 have sold in the first few days after its launch. Apple sold around 14,000 iPhones per hour in the first 72 hours after it started selling.
