Dell Debuts 17.3-inch Inspiron HD Ready Notebook
US-based computer manufacturer Dell has started to sell an entry level Inspiron notebook with a 17.3-inch screen with a starting price of only £369 including VAT and delivery.
The Inspiron 17's main feature is its 17.3-inch screen that can display a superb 1600x900 pixel. Dell says that a true HD 1080p upgrade should be available very soon which we expect will bump the screen resolution to 1920x1080.
Launched earlier this month in the US, the Inspiron 17 comes with a base configuration with an Intel Celeron running at 2.2GHz, Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, 1GB RAM, a DVD writer and 160GB of storage.
Other features include a card reader, built-in webcam and one year warranty. You can buy an additional 2 year system and service cover (with in home repair and replacements as well as extended support hours) for £103 extra.
A beefier system, at £599, will give you a Core 2 Duo processor clocked at 2.4GHz, 4GB, 500GB HDD, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics card, a six-cell battery and 802.11n wireless networking.
Dell will allow users to choose between seven case colours and users can choose to upgrade the hard disk drive up to 500GB, bump the system memory to a whopping 8GB and add a discrete ATI graphics GPU.
