Psystar To Offer Snow Leopard Clone Mac Machines

The ongoing legal battle with Apple over manufacturing Mac clones hasn't discouraged Psystar from launching a clone PC range that can support Apple’s latest operating system, Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

However, the company has urged users not to upgrade to the new operating system until its tech team clear off the technical snags in it.

Psystar staff wrote in a blog post, “We ask you not attempt to install the new OS X as it may cause harm to your computer, resulting in a possible re-installation of Leopard OS 10.5 and a loss of data”.

The company further went on to say that it has developed new virtualisation technologies to let its cloned PCs better interface with the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard, offering seamless computing experience to users.

As expected, the latest move from Psystar to support the new version of OS X on its cloned machines has infuriated Apple.

Incidentally, Apple has asked that a California judge a 30-day “reopening of discovery” in the case involving both the companies, in order to obtain Snow Leopard related source code of Psystar.

Psystar said that new Mac clones will begin shipping from next week, and it is also offering upgrade from the older version of Leopard OS for $69.99.
