BeautifulPeople.com Ejects 5,000 Members Because Of Their Weight

In a rather baffling move that could hit hard on the psyche of obese singles, an online dating website, BeautifulPeople.com, has kicked off a whopping 5,000 “festive fatties” from its network.

The website claimed to have a stringent ban on the people piling up pounds on their belly, after some “vigilant members” called for a stiff action on ugly members of the website.

Some members of the online portal had demanded for some strict move after users posted images of themselves enjoying on Christmas and the New Year eve.

Justifying the move, the MD of the company, Greg Hodge, said: “We responded to complaints by moving the newly chubby members back to the rating stage. This is the same as having them re-apply”.

“Their re-applications were reviewed by existing members and only a few hundred were voted back in. Over 5,000 were rejected”, he added. A majority of the users kicked off from the website from Canada and the US, while around 900 of them from were from Britain.

The social networking platform, which has a massive user base 550,000 across the globe, primarily rests upon its users’ decision on who should be permitted to join the website as a full-fledged member.

Our Comments

We stand flabbergasted. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and being fat is not an excuse for being pedantic or discriminatory. From where we are, this should be illegal since a little extra weight can always be lost. One has to wonder whether there's any other reasons behind this mass culling.
