Via first out of Superspeed hub trap

Taiwanese tech giant Via has announced the first USB 3.0 hub controller which will allow four so-called Superspeed devices to be used simultaneously.

The Via VL810 is the industry's first integrated single chip which supports the higher 5Gbps (gigabits per second) transfer rates of the new interface standard.

The hub, which is also the forst to be built on 80nm CMOS technology keeping the power draw as low as possible, is also backwards compatible with all previous USB standards and features improved power management over previous iterations.
