The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has announced the specifications for the Displayport 1.2 standard. DP 1.2 offers twice the data rate of the previous iteration allowing high performance 3D, higher resolutions and colour depth and multiple monitor support using just one connector. It is also backwardly compatible with all DP 1.1 systems including existing cables and mini DP connectors. Data transfer rates have been bumped from 10.8 to 21.6 Gbps...
