Hexacore processors coming soon

Both AMD and Intel are planning to launch six-core desktop CPUs according to unsubstantiated reports hitting the Interwibble.

According to sources within the motherboard manufactuiring industry who have spoke to Digitimes, AMD has roadmapped three 45nm six-core desktop processors in the Phenom II X6 1000T series for May 2010 release and Intel will beat them to the punch with a single Gulftown offering in May.

Intel's CPU will apparently be the Core i7-980X which will hit the shops at around the $1,000 mark, so you'd better get saving.
