Opera makes iPhone browser

Faster than Apple's, it reckons

Browser firm Opera Software will introduce a version of its Mini browser for Apple's iPhone, the Norwegian firm said today.

Opera said it plans to reveal Opera Mini for iPhone at the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week

Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera Software said: "Opera’s mission is to bring the Web to the world, and by making Opera Mini available on yet another platform, we are one step closer.”

Members of the press and Opera partners will be able to fiddle with the iPhone browser next week. Ordinary punters won't.

Opera reckons its browser will be up to six times faster than Apple's own browser

"We have not submitted it yet to the Apple App Store. However, we hope that Apple will not deny their users a choice in Web browsing experience," von Tetzchner told Reuters.
