Facebook Zero targets mobile phones

It appears that Facebook is to launch a stripped-down, picture-free version of its social notworking site called Facebook Zero.

"We are discussing it... as an option to make Facebook on the mobile web available to everyone, anywhere and allow operators to encourage more mobile internet usage," said a spokesperson for the firm, according to the BBC.

The new site "omits data intensive applications like photos", a spokesman is said to have said. It'll be a sort of Facebook without faces. Maybe we could call it something like, er, Twitter.

The Zero is aimed at people using Facebook on their mobile phone and will launch "in the coming weeks". It'll be even liter than Facebook Lite

The site here isn't worth clicking yet as there's nothing there.
